PRINTING & PHOTOCOPYING

We offer a popular range of traditional and contemporary printing services.   We have briefly outlined them in layman’s terms below.  Please contact us to discuss your project in more detail so we can identify the most suitable process for your needs and budget.

Digital Printing

Still a relatively modern and fast moving technology, in simplest terms think of a giant office printer or photocopier with bells and whistles!  Anything from a single copy to a few thousand.   Digital printing uses dry toners, so there’s no drying time – it is quick and economical.   Data personalisation, such as adding variable content (e.g. name & address, account numbering, customer specific promotion offers) costs no more to print once setup.

The ability to make a one-off proof for client approval is possible with digital, whereas not with litho.

In December 2020, a1Sovereign were proud to receive the UK’s first Konica Minolta C4080 colour digital press installation.

Offset Litho Printing

The traditional way of printing, using printing plates and ink on a printing press.   The inked image is transferred from the plate to a rubber blanket and then transferred from the blanket to the paper.   Single colour jobs use just one plate, whilst full colour jobs use four different plates – one for each colour (cyan, magenta, yellow and black – commonly abbreviated to CMYK).

Because the time and cost is largely within the setup, litho printing is typically suited to runs of 2,000 or more.

Large Format Printing

Large format printing is also a digital print process, however uses roll fed substrate and cartridge fed wet inks to form the image.   As a loose rule, where the finished project is greater than SRA3 (320mm x 450mm) and it’s not a litho job, then large format printing offers the solution.   As far as the equipment goes – in layman’s terms – think of a very large, high speed floor standing inkjet printer.

Photocopying

From just a single A4 copy to hundreds of copies, we offer an ‘on-demand’ while you wait photocopying service, whilst you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at our scenic rural office.   A5, A4 and A3 photocopying available, reduction/enlargement, full colour or mono (black & white).   Various weights and colours of paper and card stock available.

Print Finishing Options

After we have printed your project, there are a number of finishing options available.   These include:

  • Laminating/Encapsulating – to enhance or protect your document
  • Creasing – to prevent card cracking along the folded edges
  • Perforating – detachable slips, coupons, etc.
  • Folding
  • Trimming (guillotining) to size
  • Binding to your chosen style of finish
  • Booklet making – saddle stitched, trimmed and square-folded for a ‘flat’ finish
  • Drilling (usually 2- or 4-hole) to fit into a ring binder or lever arch file
  • Eyeletting – inserting metal eyelet/s for attachment to a cord, tie or lanyard
  • Tab Cutting – bespoke section divider cards for use in ring binders, presentation folders, etc.
  • Die Cutting – when the finished product isn’t rectangular or square
